He was standing and just had this look on him that he really wanted to move his legs and walk without holding on. He started too and just plopped on the ground. Last night in a rush to get Alana on the potty he walked while holding my hands, that was totally a first. He managed to do it briefly one more time later that night so daddy could see.
Today when I picked him up at daycare Kailash said that he was taking a couple steps. I held him up and he took like 1.5 steps before falling down. I'm sure it will be very soon and he will be walking across the room.

We went to the botanical gardens to get A's 3 year portraits. It was struggle but we managed to get some great shots of her and a few of L. I'll share a few pix later on.moosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-81763575606815029282011-07-12T22:11:00.000-07:002011-07-12T22:25:21.580-07:00Sock Monkey Party Planning Ideas.. my listLove this!

http://karaspartyideas.blogspot.com/2011/06/sock-monkey-1st-birthday-party.html

My party planning list/ideas: Just brainstorming. I can't believe L is 11 months old already and that I've done no planning for his birthday yet. The last few days he has been standing up on his own for 2-3 seconds at a time. I was getting some pictures of him tonight and was trying to get him to do it. He actually stood by himself twice for quite a few seconds. I managed to snap a pic. Will share those pix later on. Yesterday I caught him standing on top of A's step stool digging in the trash. He also loves to turn the volume up on the T.V. A was so easy compared to this little dude. Anything he can get into he will. He also likes to climb up things and then can't get back out. yeesh! His bottom teeth are pretty much all the way in and his top two teeth are coming out a little bit at a time.

A is able to enunciate words a little better now. It is funny though, yesterday she was running and saying she needed to ektercise and that she loves running. She is super sweet and loves to help out in any way with her brother. She even tells him no no all the time. She also loves to help change diapers. She is a great sister except for when he has something that is hers or that she wants. She just yanks it out of his hands. I try to explain to her that we share toys but she doesn't get it.

My family will be in town in less than a month. I'm super excited! I really need to start planning that birthday party. I was going to do a sock monkey theme that I saw on my favorite bday planning website. I was going to knit him some sock monkey pants for him to wear. Still not sure though. We'll see ...moosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-47134493677620911492011-07-11T11:35:00.000-07:002011-07-11T16:15:09.949-07:00Wow I love reading this blogOh my sweet little girl is so grown up now. I was so busy last weekend I didn't get to post on Alana's Birthday. I wanted so bad to post and have June 20th show up... too bad we were busy celebrating in Las Vegas!

Yep Alana turned 1 last Saturday. We had a party for her the end of May while we were in Virginia. The whole 1st bday with family party and tutus and fairy wings. But on her actual birthday we drove to Vegas with my sisters and mom and had a small dinner with cake and waiters singing.

Alana is walking all over the place now, she really doesn't crawl much anymore. She started walking the Saturday before her birthday. Just 1 day and she was like a pro. She likes to say "uh oh" in her baby words when she drops stuff off her high chair or wherever she may be. She also likes to do her fake cough if she hears you cough. She still has this weird thing she does, she scrunches up her nose and breathes in and out loudly. Its weird but really cute. I have a picture of it somewhere. She is getting better at waving "hi" and now will wave "bye" but she will wave with both hands, opening and closing her hands. Its super cute.

We go for her 1 year appt tomorrow. I only pump twice a day now, down from 4 times a day. I am really losing my milk now. I get about 8 oz a day for her pumping and just nurse her after work. I hate to see it go, but I just don't want to pump at work anymore.

We are planning to take some pictures of Alana this weekend for her 1st bday pix. A few down at the beach and some at the Botanical Gardens. I hope to get a new camera and then David can photoshop them to our liking. I wanted something special for Alana's bday pix, not just boring old sears, and I can't afford a pro photographer. So I am hoping I can duplicate some nice pix on my own.

Well I'll go work on some pictures now to share with this postmoosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-61404011370187516012009-05-10T21:38:00.000-07:002009-05-10T21:45:05.072-07:00Happy 1st Mother's DayYay, my first real mother's day. David made us breakfast this morning then we went to the park and took some pix with Alana, had a late lunch and came back to hang out around the house, I also got a present this morning from David and Alana, I got a new Ipod Touch, wow!!

Alana was standing a few times today, un-assisted, only for a 4-5 seconds, and I would get all excited and scream, David she's standing and it would startle her and she would plop down,

She is walking pretty good with the little hand held walker. She is getting very clingy towards me lately, not sure what it is, maybe she is just hungry and she knows I'm her source of food.

David is working on Alana's pre-birthday invitations. I finally finished all 12 tutus, I made a bib for Alana's b-day, I painted the wands and just have to glue the stars on. I hope to get it shipped out to my mom's house this week.

I can't find my digital camera adapter to hook the card into the computer so I can't upload any new pictures right now, hopefully I will have time for that another day this week. I want to show some of the pictures we took today at the park

Alana is just getting so big, we can't wait to go home in just a couple weeks to share her with all her family, they won't even recognize her, I can't wait for her to see everyone!!

okay
goodnight, back to work tomorrowmoosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-81181238310154776632009-04-22T20:55:00.000-07:002009-04-22T21:40:41.457-07:0010 months and 2 daysWell I have severely neglected my blog readers from Alana's updates. Alana is now 10 months and 2 days old. She is now is the double digits..crazy. Lots of first going on as you may guess. My mom and sisters came to visit us in mid March, just as Alana was rocking back and forth and starting to crawl. Just the next week after their visit Alana was crawling all over the house. In the last month she has been pulling herself up to stand. Her favorite place to stand is in front of the tv and she loves to turn the volume up and turn everything on and off. She now loves to go into her cabinet in the kitchen and pull out all the plastic containers and lids and drag them all over the house.

Yesterday I was playing with her at daycare when I was picking her up and I brought her over to the baby walker (with a handlebar and wheels for babies to push around) and she was totally pushing it and walking with it. Her feet were still a little turned out, but still she was walking with it. Today I was holding her hands while she was slowly walking with me in the kitchen

Today also when I went to pick her up from daycare she was smiling and excited with her mouth wide open and I saw a the start of 2 little white teeth making their way out of her gums. So soon she will have some cute little teeth to show off in her pictures.

I think I am finally done uploading all the back dated pictures of Alana and have been separating them by months.

We will be in Virginia next month for a wedding and will be celebrating Alana's birthday on May 30th, almost a month early but we really wanted to share and celebrate with all her family.

well David is getting upset in the kitchen because apparently he has too many dishes to wash so I should go. pictures to followmoosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-40562964432821966332009-04-12T08:25:00.000-07:002009-04-12T08:26:38.325-07:00Happy Easter<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; When should I stop and just convert to months.....

Things are well, I made it through 2 weeks of work already. The daycare seems to be going great and I am always told how good she is and how adorable and cute she is. But I still wish I had more time with her, I miss her all week and the weekends just aren't long enough :0(

We had some serious growing going on these last 2 weeks. I had dropped her off at daycare one morning and when I picked her up she didn't fit in the car seat. We had to take the inserts and move the straps up when we got home so she could fit.

Last weekend I saw her roll over to her left side for the first time and now every time we change her diaper she rolls to the left, so diaper changing is sideways now.

We weighed her on the scale at home and it said she was 15 lbs, yowza :0)

David and I went to old navy and baby gap today looking for a fall/Halloween dress to go with the black/white striped leggings I am going to make for her. I wanted to get a dress to go with it for her pictures we are getting done in a few weeks. Anyway I didn't find anything I liked or was looking for so David picked out a cute brown velour outfit, not a dress, but its still cute. So she will wear that for her pictures and hopefully another shot of her in her Halloween costume.

We ended up getting her the "pea in the pod" costume at Target, they were more affordable and that was the cutest thing we could find in her size it was either that or a chili pepper.

so since I won't be using the leggings her penny's pictures, I'm going to make a Halloween tutu to wear with them and her Halloween shirt and just take pictures myself

well enough talking her are some more of the pictures I took of her today with David and a few videos from the last few weeks

These videos are from 12 week and 14 weeks

I got the pictures from her 2 months sitting at JC penny's. They are so adorable, I went out and bought frames last weekend for them at Target. I will try to scan them soon so I can share them with you all.

Alana just keeps getting bigger and bigger, I love when I hold her now I feel her arms around me holding on, its so sweet to feel that. We have gone to a working mothers support group on the last two Saturdays. I get help and feedback with my pumping at work and she gets to play with other babys. It a lot of fun and very informative. Our instructor is trying to set up a weekend class for us with a lady who teaches about nutrition and recipes for when babies start eating and takes you on a tour of whole foods. I hope to be able to go to that class, sounds fun, we enjoy our mommy time, and Daddy enjoys his daddy time watching t.v. on the couch and napping while we go to our classes.

I wasn't going to alter her diet in any way at first but the more I think about it, since I'm vegetarian and well she has been so far, I want to only give her fish or chicken and not any red meat or pork. I thought that would be more healthy for her and better than going vegetarian since I'm not sure I could keep up with making sure she gets enough protein. Of course this doesn't matter much now but when she does start eating solids, thats my plan, and David is cool with it. So no sneaking my kid hot dogs okay, or you will be in trouble :0)

Well hope you enjoyed the pix and videos, hopefully I'll have some cool stuff to talk about next week!

ciao - Marcie :0)
10/4/08

moosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-20499353476238158072008-09-26T21:23:00.001-07:002008-09-26T21:30:49.175-07:00Friday Picture Day - 14 weeks oldAlana was born on a Friday so I always make sure to take pictures of her on Fridays, she is 14 weeks old today and here are some pix we took tonight, before and after her bath. she is getting soooo big

I survived my first week back to work, it was so difficult and so depressing to have to go back but I made it. pumping at work is going okay. A little bit of a hassle since I am pumping in the bathroom. I'm going to a class in the morning at the pump station for working mothers who breastfeed.. Hopefully I'll get some good tips for pumping! I'm a few ounces shy of what she eats at daycare.

well here she is in all her cuteness

getting nakie for bathtime

uh oh! someone peed on me

getting dried off

ahh cozy in my pajamas, showing off my hat

moosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-63209162426202612922008-09-20T12:55:00.001-07:002008-09-21T21:10:28.419-07:00Our baby is 3 months old!!
my first trip to the beach

September 20th, 2008

going to take pix today, be back to blog later

-Marcie

well we had a nice day, went to the very small botanical gardens at UCLA to take some picture. not many photo opportunities there like other gardens we've been to. I go back to work tomorrow and I couldn't be more upset about it. I have to take Alana to her babysitter and am so torn. I can't believe I have to leave her there, its so heartbreaking just thinking about it. I'm going crazy making lists and trying to take care of everything for her and myself for tomorrow. Not sure what I will need and won't need, packing milk, my lunch, my stuff, her stuff, the breast pump, bottles, etc, etc, etc.

yikes, so I just wanted to post a note, will try to post next week, I uploaded a bunch of pix onto Walgreen's, our first day at the beach together and the gardens pictures. She can hold her head up most all of the time except when she is tired. She still has to sleep all swaddled up but the last few weeks she has been sleeping longer and longer at night

when we were in Va. she started to sleep as long as 5 hours at a time at night and when we came back home, I tried to keep her on that same schedule and the first week she was giving me 6-7 hours at night and last night she slept from 8:30 to 6:00. WOOHOO! I hope its not a fluke thing and she keeps it up. The only difference during the day is that she won't nap longer than 30 minutes and she nurses every 2 hours on the dot.

She always wants a nap around 10 am but her after noon nap is different all the time. She is napping now and its 1pm, which is about normal for her (well she just woke up at its 1:45)

As for nursing, it is going better than ever. I hear all the people who have such hard time and I feel really lucky, she latched on perfectly from the beginning. I had a lot of engorgement and leaking this whole time but it is now getting better at 12 weeks. The toe curling pain lasted about 5 -6 weeks but that was mostly the right side. Pumping is going great too. I was a little discouraged at first because when I first tried it I was getting like barely even 1/2 and ounce just some drips here and there and now I'm a full on dairy queen. I swear that right side could pump forever. The strange thing is that I can pump twice as much on my right side than my left side but my left side is easier for her to nurse on. I now have learned from this that I have two completely different boobs :0)

Well I've been typing a lot so now I'm gonna go try and put some pix in the middle of all this text. Whats a blog without pictures.....boring

here is my birth story...... get comfortable...this was posted on my birth board on 7-1-08
if you can make it to the end there are pictures

Alana Adele is Here

arriving June 20th 2008 at 9:40 p.m.
6lb 6 oz 19 inches
EDD July 2nd

It all seemed to start after our doctor's appointment on Thursday morning, June 19th. We had a normal appt, legs were still super swollen but no mention of any urine or blood pressure issues. We had our first exam showing no dilating but a small amount of thinning of my cervix

for the rest of the day I felt a little crampy, but nothing to worry about, I just assumed it was from the doctor's exam. I wanted to make sure we could have her at least while my mom was here and not later so per doctors orders I was trying to walk a lot that day.

I walked to get my lunch late that afternoon. I had some random person yell at me across the street telling me "your gonna have that baby today". I looked across the street but only saw one person who didn't seem to pay me any attention. It was kinda funny, I was like "yeah right :0)" After eating I felt a little more crampy but felt more like I had gas or ate something bad.

It got progressively worse through the early evening, I just felt a little stomach ache like, gassy or telling myself that I probably ate something bad. As I drove home my stomach was hurting more, I even sat in the car for a minute or two before getting out just feeling really uncomfortable

I got up stairs and decided to lay down and laid there for an hour without even turning on the t.v. just wondering why I felt so gassy.

David got home at 8pm and looked at me as soon as he walked in the door and immediately asked if I was okay, apparently I didn't look too good. I just laid there the rest of the night watching t.v. just feeling uncomfortable

about 10pm we decided to go to bed and as soon as I laid in bed the pain got worse and a little regular, david said to start timing them as he said I looked like I was in labor. I blew him off just kept saying I probably ate something bad that day and after a few hours we noticed these "gas" pains were coming on about 7 or 8 or 10 mins apart and lasting maybe 30-40 seconds

I got out of bed and tried to call my mom because I had no idea if I was having contractions or not, I finally got a hold of her and she was already awake, not able to sleep that night. she listened to me as I got the pain and convinced me I was having contractions. they were getting progressively more painful, longer and closer together and at about 1 a.m. I started writing down the times and they were coming every 5 mins and lasting about 1 minute long.

I tried contacting the doctor on call to ask what I should do but she never called back. at about 2p.m. we decided along with my mom to go the hospital and by then my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart, strong and lasting at least a minute long

we got to the hospital at 2:30 am and a care extender from L&D was downstairs at the entrance and walked us up to L&D. I was immediately hooked up to the monitors and they took a sample of my urine and took my blood pressure.

I was then told my blood pressure was very high and I was spilling 3+ protein in my urine, with 4 being the highest. My doctor was paged again and they decided to put me on a magnesium drip to prevent me from having seizures due to the high blood pressure

a couple hours later (the next morning) my doctor arrived at the hospital. she checked me and I was still not dilated. She said even though I was in early labor normally I would be told to go back home to dilate but because of the issues with my blood pressure and protein in my urine and the dangers of it the only cure was for me to have the baby as soon as possible. They could give me an epidural which would lower my blood pressure and then give me pitocin to speed up labor so I would dilate and hopefully have the baby naturally but a c-section was an option if that didn't work.

They just wanted to get the baby out soon to help my body and the baby. So then I was given the epidural which immediately lowered my blood pressure followed by the pitocin to start my dilating

I felt much better after the epidural, because I no longer felt the contractions! woohoo! I really thought I wanted to do this all natural but after it being medically necessary to have the epidural I realized how wonderful it was. I was able to breathe through the painful contractions and finally getting a break after contracting every 2-3 minutes was
very nice

soo fast forward 18 hours after being admitted to the hospital. the epidural wore off 3 times and I had to feel about 45 mins to and hour of very painful pitocin induced contractions where I thought I was going to die, not really, but they hurt unbelievably bad and this was 3 separate times... before they could get the epidural working again. The second time the epidural wore off I was given a bolus 3 times and still no relief so the Anesthesiologist came in and gave a dose he said was half of a c-section dose. Finally some relief but then that caused the baby's heart rate to go up and down so they had to put a heart monitor on her head (inside me) which caused my water to break. I was told I was 5-6 cm only a few hours after the pitocin was given and then was told I was 9.5 cm at around 4 or 5pm and was very excited to hopefully start pushing soon.

there was a nurse shift change at 7pm and the new nurse, not really a new nurse, the same nurse from 2 am that previous morning, was back for the night shift again. I was getting really anxious and annoyed that the previous nurse told me I was 9.5cm and I was still laying there 3 hours later with no baby yet. The new nurse checked me and said I was only 6-7 cm.

I had been laying there for 18+ hours, only moving from left to the right side of my back, no food, no water, dealing with the epidural wearing off multiple times and thought I was 9.5 cm only to be told I was probably only 6cm. I officially broke down at that moment. I had technically been in labor for over 24 hours and had just given in

I started crying I was so upset, so hungry, so thirsty, so freaking tired of laying in that stupid bed unable to move on my own without the nurse telling when I could change sides I was laying on. UGH! the epidural was wearing off again there was a new anesthesiologist who had no idea what I had been through, trying to make my pain go away and and not doing it I started to have back labor because of the baby's position. My back was in so much pain and they were not helping me at all

I was crying from pain and everything else when my doctor came in. She saw my blood pressure rising up drastically and me in pain and distraught and said thats it we have to do a c-section, your not dilating enough, your baby is in the wrong position and with each contraction her head is trying to push out but its not big enough and her head is getting deformed, or pushed into a cone head

I looked at my husband an we agreed it was best for me and for her

so 10 minutes later I was on the OR table, still having very bad back labor, they were trying to get me to lay flat but my back hurt sooo bad I couldn't. the anesthesiologist was then trying to give me meds for the c-section but couldn't get my right side to get as numb and my left side. they had me sit up and he re adjusted my epidural and tried again. finally my right side was starting to get numb and they started prepping for the c-section

I didn't feel any pain thankfully but just all the pressure of pushing and pulling and then what felt like someone sitting on my chest and very quickly Alana was born and I got to hear her cry but didn't get to see her yet. Because I had been on the magnesium drip all day for my blood pressure, they had a nicu team standing by in case it affected her breathing in any way. Thankfully she was okay and very healthy. they said she even had her eyes open as they were cutting in , looking at them as they took her out.

oh but its not over yet. As they were I guess putting me back together I felt them pushing at the this one particular spot and holding pressure there for a long time but as they kept pushing it I kept feeling it, not just pressure but pain and they just kept pushing at this one spot and it kept hurting more and more, I was yelling from the pain, the Anesthesiologist couldn't
seem to help the pain and I think I started yelling so loud they decided to sedate me. I don't really remember since I was apparently sedated so I would stop yelling I guess. After who knows how long I remember being awake but very loopy and seeing double vision talking randomly and looking for David and my baby

I only heard her crying, David said they did eventually show her to me but I don't remember seeing her.

I went to recovery afterwards and eagerly awaited to see my baby but I was still so sedated I had to wait for 4 hours before I got to see her, I was so upset about that but I was so sedated I wouldn't have been able to hold her anyway.

We went back to another labor room to spend the night and I finally was able to see my baby and nurse her, she latched on perfectly the first time :0)

I still had high blood pressure and still was leaking protein in my urine at the same level. the next morning they had me stand up and take a wheel chair to our postpartum room to spend the next 4 days.

I was still on magnesium and had a catheter for the next day and night, I think I finally got off of those on Sunday. I still had the swollen hands and legs and feet up until Monday when it finally started going down. The blood pressure was up and down and was still up at my visit last Friday to get my staples out.

I now have my ankles back but still have tingly fingers, I have a 6 week check up where they hope my blood pressure will then be back to normal. I weighed myself the other day and have had a 25 lb weight loss since the birth which obviously shows how swollen I was and why I was gaining weight so rapidly towards the end of the pregnancy.

We are all now happy and healthy and at home enjoying our firsts with our new baby girl.

moosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-67087862977161657512008-07-28T20:59:00.000-07:002008-07-28T21:00:37.352-07:00guess who's hereAlana!!!

My baby is 1 month, 1 week and 1 day old today! yippee

more to come!moosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-17921700485586189642008-06-02T20:49:00.001-07:002008-06-02T20:55:53.668-07:001 more month, holy molyJust a quick post that today is June 2nd and my due date is July 2nd, wow!

heres how she looks at 36 weeks

moosiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04828975880575694346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6296342098150245612.post-57077404144042819932008-05-04T17:48:00.000-07:002008-05-04T18:15:41.355-07:0032 weeks today.... thats 8 MONTHS!I have been forgetful and tired and lazy so I haven't posted in a while

I've been suffering from the carpal tunnel all the time and now crazy swollen feet have started this weekend

My finger tips are numb as I type this and I feel my left foot getting bigger so I won't write much...here are the last few weeks of belly shots

I've been having my doctors appointments every 2 weeks now, I passed my 3 hour glucose test

I'm flying back to VA next weekend for a wedding I'm going to be a bridesmaid in, can't wait to show those pix off, I had to buy a dress twice my normal size and then have the chest taken in to fit, well see how that goes. She is so cute and we got a bunch of pix on CD that won't work in our computer right now, argh! and a DVD that I will go pick up on Wednesday. Here are some of the pix she printed for us, my scanner is not very good here so they look a little more distorted quality wise than they do in person

Isn't she a cutie! David is afraid that she has his Samoan nose :0)

It was very difficult to get her hands out of the way, she has always had her hands by her head at every U/S I've had, and she kept her little hand over her mouth almost the whole time, so we had to poke her to get her to move it out of the way

We have over 50 more photos on a disk, but we need to buy a new cd drive so I can open them on the computer

This was her when she was grabbing her toes!!

We saw her open her eyes and open her mouth, smile a little, and stretch and move around
In the beginning the tech was worried she wouldn't get a shot of her face because she had her face smooshed into my placenta.
